VTV.vn - At a conference with the Ministry of Information and Communications on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the Government has agreed to pilot the use of mobile phone accounts to pay for goods and services.

The Prime Minister asked units to begin accepting payments via mobile phone. According to Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, the telecommunication infrastructure wasn't just for communications. In fact, it had become the infrastructure of the digital economy, digital society, and the fourth industrial revolution. The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) expects to pilot mobile money services to allow customers to transfer money and make purchases through mobile phone accounts which will help spread the use of e-payments and stimulate economic growth. Non-cash payments require the user to have a bank account, but less than 50 percent of the country's population have bank accounts. However, most Vietnamese citizens have mobile phones.
