Teachers working in ethnic minority areas honoured
VTV.vn - As many as 63 teachers who are teaching ethnic minority students in remote areas across the country were honoured at a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 16 on the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day.

The ceremony entitled “Sharing with Teachers” was organised by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs and Thien Long Group.

Addressing the ceremony, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Le Quoc Phong said that “Sharing with Teachers” was first launched in 2015 to recognise and honour the ceaseless contributions and efforts of teachers in the national cause of educating and nurturing the young generation.

After four years of implementation, the programme has honoured 216 teachers who have made efforts to teach students in remote, border, island and disadvantaged areas, Phong said.

This year’s event praises 63 teachers who are teaching ethnic minority students at kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in remote and needy areas.

Among the 63 teachers, Mua Thi A, born in 1993, who is working at Hoa Dao Kindergarten in Hang Dong commune, Bac Yen district, Son La province, is the youngest teacher, while Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, born in 1965,who is teaching at Nguyen Hue Junior Secondary School in Bac Lieu city, is the oldest.

Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Tong Thi Phong expressed her delight to attend the programme and conveyed congratulations from NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to the teachers.

She hoped that the ceremony will be a source of encouragement for teachers across the country to overcome difficulties to continue contributing to the nation.

She affirmed that the Party and State praise and recognise their great efforts and achievements in the cause of teaching and educating over the past years.
