The meeting was conducted after the airport had been listed among the 10 worst in the world.
Tan Son Nhat Airport has been seriously overloaded, with the domestic terminal currently serving 4 million passengers more than design capacity. Pick-ups and drop-offs outside are also over capacity with over 15 thousand cars and 9 thousand motorbikes visiting the airport.
Transport Minister Dinh La Thang requested that flights, particularly for domestic routes be rearranged for off-peak hours, particularly evening flights. The airport is expected to increase capacity to handle 40 flights an hour.
