As Vietnam approaches its 100th anniversary in 2045, it has set its sights on becoming a prosperous, developed nation. General Secretary To Lam emphasized the role of the younger generation in this endeavor, stating: “Young people must confidently step into the world, equipped with profound knowledge, strong physical health, and a soul rich in Vietnamese cultural identity. They must strive to become global citizens with a Vietnamese spirit, contributing to the construction and defense of the nation”. What actions must we take today to nurture a generation that embodies virtue, intellect, fitness, and aesthetics? This question lies at the heart of this episode’s theme, “Shaping a Rising Generation”.
A highlight of the program is the appearance of two special guests, representing two generations of Vietnamese talent: Professor Le Anh Vinh, Director General of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences, will share his profound academic insights on education and human development strategies. Joining him is Dong Minh Anh, a young Party member and Secretary of the English Class 1 Youth Union at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, who embodies the dynamism, courage, and aspirations of Vietnam’s youth. Their cross-generational dialogue will offer different viewpoints and help us chart a course for building a rising generation, in line with the vision of President Ho Chi Minh and the directive of General Secretary To Lam.
The episode focuses on four pillars essential to shaping well-rounded individuals in this new era: virtue, intellect, fitness, and aesthetics. These pillars are top national priorities that are approached through education, training, sports, cultural engagement, and population policy.
Part 1 delves into “Fostering Virtue” — nurturing morality, character, love for the homeland, and a spirit of contribution. Part 2 shifts to “Sharpening Intellect”, raising questions about how intelligence should be redefined in the digital era and the fundamental role of grades and degrees. It also explores how to spark a lifelong love for learning and innovation in young minds.
In Part 3, the spotlight turns to the physical health and vitality of Vietnamese youth. Through humorous videos that showcase tech addiction and sedentary habits, along with startling statistics on height and obesity rates, the discussion will confront harsh realities while exploring solutions such as nutrition and exercise movements to improve the physical development of future generations.
The final segment, “Cultivating Aesthetics”, explores how to foster a love for beauty, promote national culture, and absorb global cultural values. The guests will discuss how to create aesthetically rich environments in schools, the role of art in education, and how young people can preserve and enhance Vietnam’s cultural identity amid global integration.
