VTV.vn - A seminar on “Information on consumer trends and export standards to the Thai market in 2023” , was jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) and Central Retail Group Vietnam o n April 5.

Speaking at the event, ITPC Deputy Director Nguyen Tuan emphasised that the structure of export goods of Vietnam and Thailand has many similarities, especially in the agricultural and fishery sector. However, Vietnamese enterprises have not grasped the tastes, preferences and consumption habits of the Thai people, so the processing and packaging stages have not met the needs and preferences of Thai consumers.

Besides, distribution channels in Thailand are quite diverse, including traditional markets, convenience stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets, with their characteristics in terms of price and packaging, so Vietnamese businesses also need to research carefully to apply for import certificates from the authorities.

Through the event, businesses have more useful information about the Thai market, such as instructions on the process and standards of exporting goods to the Thai market, an update on consumer trends, the sharing of goods export experiences, and the development of new products to approach the Thai market.

Economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Thailand have been continuously expanded. The total bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Thailand reached 3 billion USD in the first two months of 2023, of which Vietnam’s export turnover to Thailand hit 1.2 billion USD, up 12.4% compared to the same period in 2022.

The bilateral trade turnover is expected to soon achieve the goal of 25 billion USD, in the near future.

The seminar was attended by nearly 150 delegates and businesses from Ho Chi Minh City, operating in the areas of industrial production, agricultural products, food, textiles, banking, finance, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and others.
