The 500-m street, to be set up in Ward 9 of Vinh Long City, will showcase nearly 2,500 ceramic products by 16 businesses throughout the province.
The highlight of the street is the display of a typical mushroom-shaped pottery kiln, which is used to fire ceramic products.
The ceramic street is jointly implemented by the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the provincial Ceramics and Tile Association, and the provincial Association of Literature and Arts.
With around 100 years of history, the Vinh Long ceramic village is now home to nearly 1,500 kilns, across Mang Thit District and parts of Long Ho District and Vinh Long City.
More than a century ago, Vinh Long people began to exploit clay mines on the banks of the Co Chien River, to make brick, and from then the largest brick and tile-making village in the Mekong Delta formed.
Vinh Long's brick products are famous throughout the region for their distinctive characteristics: as solid as stone and a nice colour of red. Vinh Long red ceramic products have been exported to European, American, Australian, and Asian markets.
The Vietnam Agricultural Festival – Vinh Long 2023 will take place on Vo Van Kiet Street, Vinh Long City, gathering more than 300 businesses.
