The program tells the emotional story of Nguyen Thi Thuy, a disabled mother born in 1987, who tirelessly overcomes adversity to raise her two daughters, Trinh Khanh Uyen and Trinh Phuong Vy, both living with disabilities.
Born with the aftereffects of cerebral palsy, Thuy faces severe mobility challenges. Her spine is curved, her posture uneven, and her head and neck often tilt to one side, making balance and movement extremely difficult. Every step she takes requires immense effort. These physical limitations disrupted her education early on, narrowing her opportunities for learning and employment.
Growing up in a low-income family, Thuy had to confront the pressures of survival at a young age. Despite her condition, she learned tailoring, a meticulous craft better suited to her physical abilities. Though her income is modest, it represents her determination to be independent and to help support her family.
Life brought further hardship when she became a single mother, raising two daughters with disabilities on her own. Khanh Uyen was born blind and has intellectual disabilities, while Phuong Vy is visually impaired and also suffers from epilepsy. Despite these challenges, Thuy’s love remains a strong and unwavering foundation for her children.
Currently, Thuy and Phuong Vy live in a small rented room in the Kim Nguu area of Hanoi. Despite her mobility difficulties, she consistently takes her children to school every day, prepares meals, ensures her children sleep, and teaches them basic life skills. For Thuy, happiness is simply seeing her children healthy and learning as they gradually grow up.
During the program, Phuong Vy’s innocent words deeply moved viewers. She shared that what she loves most about her mother is that “she cooks very delicious food, especially chicken”. She also expressed a heartfelt wish: “I want my mom to learn how to ride a motorbike so she can take me to school”, and lovingly said, “Mom, I love you”. These simple words beautifully reflect the strong bond between mother and child.
Phuong Vy also confidently showcased her talent on stage, performing the song “My Dream” to express her love and hopes for her mother.
Through the program, Station of Love and its partners provided meaningful support to the family, helping them stabilize their lives and offering hope for the children’s future.
“A Sky After Stormy Days” is not just a story of hardship, but also a symphony of resilience, maternal love, and faith in life. In the end, every mother remains a “peaceful sky”, a place that nurtures and protects her children’s dreams, no matter how turbulent life may be.
