Appearing on the Station of Love set with her beautiful crocheted flowers, Nguyen Anh Phuong confidently introduced her work and passion. These crocheted products not only help her earn an income, but also bring her joy and faith in life.
Talking about the turning point in her life, Nguyen Anh Phuong recounted that she was born a normal child, just like her peers. After being accepted into the Cultural Studies program at Hanoi University of Culture in 2009, she fell seriously ill with a high fever just one week before the start of school. The fever, along with a headache, put the young girl in a coma for six months at the Central Lung Hospital. The day she woke up was also the day she received the devastating news: she was completely paralyzed from the waist down and would never be able to move again. Amid the physical and emotional pain, there were moments when Phượng had negative thoughts.
Anh Phuong went from being a normal person, excited and full of many new experiences, to being surrounded by four walls . Despite her family's best efforts to seek treatment, Phuong could no longer control her legs as she once did.
After giving birth to a healthy child and with a bright future ahead of her, an accident happened right after a fever, and her mother, Le Thi Nga, felt as though her heart was breaking. However, she remained strong to become the pillar of support for her daughter. Not only a mother, but she was also a companion in every step of Anh Phuong's treatment and education. "Every mother wants the best for her child. Whatever my child does, as long as she is happy, I will always support and accompany her," said Mrs. Nga.
Witnessing her mother’s love and meticulous care, Phuong realized that she could not live forever in regret and needed to do something to support herself and ease her mother's economic burden. Thinking it through, in 2016, Nguyen Anh Phuong joined the volunteer group Green Hope volunteer group. This activity helped Phuong gain confidence, adapt to life as a person with a disability, engage in volunteer work, and spread happiness to others.
The unexpected appearance of Duong Thi Van at the Station of Love studio touched Phuong deeply. Mrs. Van was not only a teacher but also an emotional support who helped Phuong adjust to life during the difficult days after the tragedy. She was also the one who introduced Phuong toher passion for charity work and community involvement. By listening to and helping others in similar situations, Phuong developed a deeper sense of empathy and became even more hopeful about life: "The thing that gives me the most joy is being able to use my abilities to do something meaningful".
In the future, Anh Phuong hopes to expand her crochet work and have more opportunities to help those in unfortunate circumstances in life. The gift from the Station of Love will help empower Phuong to fulfill this noble wish.
Nguyen Anh Phuong did not only show her skills, but also revealed many of her other talents on the program Station of Love, airing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, on VTV1.
