Special concert celebrates Beethoven's 250th birthday
VTV.vn - The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) will perform Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, at the Hanoi Opera House, on December 18 and 19, to celebrate the 250th birth anniversary of musical genius Beethoven.

Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, is one of the most famous and most popular works of classical music. It’s Ludwig van Beethoven’s last symphony, which he composed in 1824 despite the fact that he was deaf at this point in his life.

The key work of symphonic music, which is the 9th symphony, has not lost its presence even after two centuries. To this date, it is the most played symphony in the world and was adopted as the Anthem of Europe by the European Union. “Beethoven’s 9th” is a symbol of unity and diversity.

A prominent feature of this symphony is the final movement. In addition to the orchestra, there will be vocal soloists and a mixed choir. For the first time in one of Beethoven’s symphonies, the human voice will be used an instrument. The text is taken from Friedrich Schillers “An die Freude”. In the year 2001 the original script was included as a world document heritage by UNESCO.

The special concert features the participation of many famous artists such as Steffi Lehmann, Vanh Khuyen, Martin Lattke, Vu Manh Dung along with many guest artists from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan.
