Earlier, on February 14, along with 62 other cities in 34 countries, Son La City and Ho Chi Minh City were honoured to be enrolled by UNESCO in the Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC). This event provides the pride and motivation for Son La Province to focus on solutions to maintain the criteria following the honour.
Son La is a young and dynamic city that is rich in cultural identity and always gives top priority to the development of education and training.
The city is the political, economic, cultural, and social centre of Son La Province, a northern mountainous province that still faces many difficulties but is growing rapidly with many dynamic and creative development solutions.
Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly deputies’ delegation of Son La Province, and otherdelegates perform groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Chieng Den Commune’s Kindergarten in Son La City.
The UNESCO "Global Network of Learning Cities" is an international network of cities that successfully promote lifelong learning in their communities to share inspiration and best practices together.
On the occasion, Son La City held an inauguration ceremony for Chieng Le Kindergarten with a total investment of 6.9 billion VND.
Son La City has also coordinated with the Son La Provincial Department of Education and Training to launch the Centre for Inclusive Education Development Support and the "Intelligence House" model; build Chieng Den Commune Kindergarten; and repair the schools under the 2024 public investment plan in the city.
As part of activities to celebrate this event, a space was arranged at the Northwest Square to promote traditional cultural and community activities and display products for STEM/STEAM educational models.
