VTV.vn - Vietnam’s Son Doong Cave has been listed among seven wonders of the world for 2020 by the US-based renowned magazine, Conde Nast Traveler.

The cave, which is located in the central province of Quang Binh, ranked in second place in the list of seven new wonders for 2020.

According to the magazine, Son Doong is the largest cave on the planet.

Located deep in the jungles of Phong Nha Ke-Bang National Park, the largest chamber could fit an entire New York City block inside it, including skyscrapers as well as a Boeing 747 being able soar through it and not so much as event dent its wings, said the reporter.

The US magazine also mentioned that the cave is so massive, that it even has its own weather system. Clouds gather around colossal natural skylights, 300-feet across, which pour beams of light into the abyss inside.

The cave is also home to a troop of monkeys, the only ones on the planet to make their home underground, rather than in the trees.

The images of Son Doong cave were featured at the latest MV “Alone Pt.II” of Alan Walker, a British-born Norwegian DJ and record producer.

Six other new wonders for 2020 voted by the Conde Nast Traveler magazine included: Mosquito Bay in Puerto Rico; Meteor Crater in Arizona; Marianna Trench in Marianna Islands; Don Sheldon Ampitheatre, Alaska; International Space Station, Low Earth Orbit; and Caracol, Belize.
