The patients are all Vietnamese citizens who have gone on to make a full recovery following treatment at the hospital.
Among them was a 64-year-old woman, known as patient #19 in Vietnam, who is the most severe case at the hospital. The patient had been on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a life support machine, and had suffered sudden cardiac arrest three times since hospitalization on March 6.
Another patient, a female student returning to Vietnam from the United Kingdom, is considered a complex case as she had fallen into relapse many times. The patient, a local resident of Quang Ninh province, was transferred to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases on May 11 for treatment, and had since tested negative for many times.
Three other patients were imported cases returning from Russia on May 13, and the last patient, a Vietnamese student, was among those repatriated from the US on May 16.
All the six patients are required to self-isolate for medical surveillance for 14 days according to regulations.
On May 16 Vietnam recorded another coronavirus infection, taking to 327 the total number of cases in the country. Of the total, 278 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
