VTV.vn - Six more COVID-19 patients were announced as recovered on the morning of June 8, bringing the total number of recoveries in Vietnam to 313, accounting for 95% of the total 331 confirmed cases.

All the patients are Vietnamese and are known as Patients 304, 296, 289, 306, 310 and 323. They were all imported cases who returned to Vietnam from foreign countries and have been treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

They now have no sign of fever nor cough and are eligible for the all-clear. They will continue to be isolated and monitored at home for the next 14 days as prescribed.

There are still 18 patients receiving treatment at health facilities nationwide, with only six in the Hanoi-based hospital. Most of them are in stable health and several have tested negative for the coronavirus at least once.

Also, this morning, Vietnam reported two new imported cases, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 331. Both are Vietnamese women returning from abroad and were placed under quarantined upon arrival. The duo are being treated at Quang Nam Province General Hospital.

Vietnam has reported no transmissions in the community for 53 straight days.

The health condition of Patient 91, the country’s most critically ill COVID-19 patient, has improved significantly. Undergoing intensive care at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City after being announced as free from the deadly virus, the British pilot has awakened from a comma and his recovery has reached about 60%. The patient stopped relying on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) on June 3.
