VSFA President in HCM City, Nguyen Thanh Rum extended best wishes to the Singaporean people while saying bilateral relations between the two nations have grown steadily especially since Vietnam became an ASEAN member country in 1995.
Forty years after the two countries established diplomatic ties, they have become major trade and investment partners. Rum also affirmed Vietnamese people, including HCM City people’s wish to further strengthen exchanges, fortify friendship and continue stronger cooperation with Singapore.
Singaporean Consul General to HCM City, Leow Siu Lin in turn recalled the friendship and cooperative relations between Singapore and Vietnam, as well as HCM City. He added that close political relations have laid a firm foundation for economic cooperation between the two countries. Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has symbolized the sound economic links, Lin said.
Singapore has invested US$8.7 billion in 758 projects in HCM City so far, and total trade volume between HCM City and Singapore hit US$4.4 billion last year.
