The event marks the development of the international route network between Vietnam and China.
According to Deputy Director of Noi Bai International Airport Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the Chengdu-Hanoi route is expected to boost trade and tourism between the two localities.
Zhang Chang Heng, chief representative of Sichuan Airlines in Vietnam, said Hanoi has a rich history and that Chengdu people wish to come here for sightseeing, enjoy food and conduct cultural exchange with Vietnamese people.
The route will also make it easier for Vietnamese people to visit wonders in China, such as Jiuzhaigou and Zhangjiajie, and enjoy Sichuan cuisine.
Sichuan Airlines operates one daily round-trip flight between the two cities using the Airbus A320/A321 aircraft, with a flight time of about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Currently, Sichuan Airlines is the only carrier to operate the Chengdu-Hanoi route and is one of the six airlines with routes connecting Hanoi with Chinese cities.
