VTV.vn - About 2,500 tourists are stranded in Co To island, Quang Ninh province, since no ships are leaving for the mainland, according to Co To Island district People’s Committee.

Earlier, Quang Ninh Inland Waterway Port Authority ordered all 470 ships to Ha Long Bay and Co To Island not to leave the seaport due to extremely rough sea conditions. Quang Ninh province suffered heavy rains on July 25-27, resulting in high water levels in some localities.

Tragically, fourteen deaths have been confirmed to date, including eleven in Ha Long city and three in Cam Pha city. More than 2,000 households, schools and healthcare centres have been affected by the storms and flooding. Losses are estimated at approximately VND500 billion.
