To deal with the situation, a special mission from the General Department of Irrigation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development conducted a working trip in the provinces of Quảng Ngãi and Quảng Nam on Thursday.
According to first-hand reports, the drought has caused serious water shortages for the summer-autumn rice crops. The water levels of many lakes in provinces from Quảng Nam to Phú Yên have reached record lows. Some have already hit the dead level. Rivers and streams in the area have also run dry.
The provinces have suffered td 4000 hectares of damaged crop. If the drought continues for several more weeks, all of the crops will fail for sure.
