The economies of 14 provinces in the Central region are prospering. In fact, the growth rate of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the region in the first half of this year was estimated at 8.05% which is higher than the national average of 6.76%.
Tourism is becoming a driving force for the development of the central region. In 2018, the whole region received over 54 million tourists, and the total income from tourism reached over 5.2 billion USD which is equal to 19.4% of that of the whole country. However, it's believed that the region needs to pay more attention to sustainability.
