VTV.vn - Vietnam’s kurash team had a prolific day of competition on December 2, winning up to five gold medals to help the Vietnam sports delegation continue sitting in second place in the medal tally of the ongoing 30th SEA Games in the Philippines.

Le Duc Dong clinched Vietnam’s first gold of the day after beating his Philippine opponent Llamas Al Rolan in the men’s 66kg final.

Inspired by Dong’s triumph, Vietnamese kurash fighter went on to perform brilliantly and racked up three more titles thanks to Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy in the women’s +70kg event, Vu Ngoc Son in the men’s -73kg category, and Bui Minh Quan in the men’s 81kg division.

Nguyen Thi Lan concluded a big day for Vietnam’s kurash by defeating Estrella Bianca Mea of the host country to take gold in the women’s -70 kg discipline.

Lan’s victory is the seventh title that Vietnamese kurash has won thus far in this year’s SEA Games. Earlier on Sunday, fighter Tran Thuong earned a gold medal in men’s -90 kg event, while Hoang Thi Tinh blasted another in the women’s -52 kg category after beating her rival from the Philippines.

As of 9pm today, Vietnam temporarily stood second in the SEA Games medal standings with 15 gold, 20 silver and 16 bronze medals, 24 gold behind the Philippines and two clear of third-placed Malaysia.
