VTV.vn - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has signed a decision approving the school healthcare programme for the 2021-2025 period, aiming to ensure the physical and mental well-being of schoolchildren.

The programme includes specific goals for physical education activities, school nutrition and communication on school-based healthcare.

Under the programme, Vietnam aims to have at least 80% of schools meeting the requirements on healthcare for students and 75% providing sufficient drinking water and fresh water for other activities.

With regards to physical education, four out of five schools are expected to have a dedicated area with necessary equipment for physical exercises.

All schools will regularly hold sports competitions and be staffed with qualified physical education teachers.

The programme has set the goal that school meals at all educational facilities must meet requirements on nutrition and safety with at least 60% of schools to provide milk and milk-based products in their meals.

Under the programme, students will also be educated with knowledge on preventing diseases, proper nutrition, healthy foods and mental health.
