Russian President attends Istanbul ceremony for Turkish stream pipeline

VTV.vn - Russia is one step closer to tightening its natural gas grip on Turkey and southern Europe just as the U.S. aims to curb the expansion of Kremlin-backed energy projects.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan celebrated Monday the completion of the 930-kilometer underwater part of the TurkStream dual pipeline, which is set to transport Russian gas across the Black Sea to Turkey from next year. It may even stretch further, to the southern borders of the European Union.

Turkish Stream was officially started in early December 2012 . The project costs 7 billion Euros. Turkish Stream begins on the Russian coast near Anapa city. Turkish Stream could provide gas to South and Southeast Europe countries including Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary.
