Russian literary works translated into Vietnamese make debut

VTV.vn - Four more Russian classical literary works translated into Vietnamese were officially released to the public at a ceremony held in Hanoi, on August 25.

 

The publications include ‘Dau xanh tuoi tre’ (The Youth’s Green Head) by Fedor Dostoevsky; the poetry comedy ‘Kho vi tri tue’ (Woe from Wit) by Alexandr Griboedov; and two collections of short stories by numerous contemporary Russian writers: ‘Kinh nghiem tinh ai' (Erotic Experience) and ‘Doi canh' (Wings).

Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vasilevich Vnukov said that the publication of the books is part of the project, which has been jointly carried out since 2012, on translating literature from Russian into Vietnamese and vice versa,.

The project has been carried out by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Hanoi, the Vietnam-Russia Literature Fund and translators.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the translators for their great and valuable contributions to the development of the friendship between Russia and Vietnam, particularly in the field of cultural exchanges.

Translator Hoang Thuy Toan, Director of the Vietnam-Russia Literature Fund emphasised that Russian literature has had a great influence on shaping the writing style of many Vietnamese writers.

He expressed his belief that the cooperation in culture and literary will be the basis for the two countries to build and develop their partnership in many other fields.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Chairman of Vietnam Writers’ Association Huu Thinh said that Russian culture has a lasting vitality in the hearts of the Vietnamese people. The translation of works by famous Russian writers into Vietnamese is a practical activity contributing to the flow of cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Russia and the friendship between the two nations.
