Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has said the official visit of Russian Federal Council Chairwoman Valentina Matvienko is very important to the expansion of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
At a reception for Matvienko in Hanoi on Wednesday, the party leader said the Communist Party of Vietnam, state, National Assembly, government and people consider developing the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia as one of the country's top foreign policy commitments.
Chairwoman Matvienko said that Russia would do its best to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.
She promised that the Russian parliament would closely work with the National Assembly at international forums for the sake of peace, stability and respect for international law.
