VTV.vn - The conservation and restoration of Cham tower relics at My Son Sanctuary has seen a new breakthrough recently.

A delegation of Russian experts has announced a high-tech solution to help preserve the surface of the rare bricks used to build the Cham towers. The solution was a collaborative effort by the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow Power Engineering Institute.

After 8 months of research in the Cham towers of Quang Nam, Russian experts were able to apply chemical technology to protect and waterproof the brick of Cham’s relics.Samples of these bricks have been sent to laboratories in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg to devise a high-tech solution to help preserve them.

Professor Nguyen Quoc Sy is currently head of the Plasma Energy Faculty of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute. Over the past year, Sy has worked with his Russian colleagues and brought back to Vietnam treated samples of Cham’s brick. The samples will be mounted on top of the E1 tower of My Son Sanctuary for one year to test their quality.

These Russian experts also have access to previous research on My Son architecture by Vietnamese, Japanese, and Italian scientists. Professor Nguyen Quoc Sy and his colleagues will return to My Son soon to continue testing their results for new preservation solutions.
