VTV.vn - Vietnam is the first country in the region and the second country in Asia to use robotic spinal surgery.

More than 600 Vietnamese patients have benefited from this surgical technique at the Vietnam-Germany hospital without any complications.

Thân Thị Thanh was the first patient to have robot-guided spinal surgery at the Vietnam-Germany hospital nearly 5 years ago. Prior to the operation, she was diagnosed with spinal disc herniation and degeneration of the spine that made it nearly impossible for her to walk. 3 days after the surgery, she was able to walk and resume normal activities.

The robot-guided technique helps surgeons pinpoint the exact location of the problem area with high precision, reducing unnecessary damage to the surrounding tissue and cells. This has minimised risks during surgery.

The Vietnam-Germany Hospital has operated on over 600 patients with spinal traumas, vertebrae and disk herniation, and thoracic scoliosis. With these achievements, Associate Professor Nguyen Van Thach has been honoured by the Vietnamese health sector.
