Robocon Vietnam 2025 Grand Finale: A Showcase of Young Creative Talent

VTV.vn - After many intense and exciting matches, the eight top teams of Robocon Vietnam 2025 have emerged, ready to compete for the national championship title.

The Vietnam Robot Innovation Contest, also known as Robocon Vietnam 2025 gathered 62 teams from technical universities, academies, and colleges nationwide.

For the first time, this   year’s theme, “Basketball Warriors”, introduced  real-time combat between robots, making the matches as thrilling as actual sports games.

According to Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television and Head of the Robocon Vietnam 2025 Organizing Committee, this year’s competition coincides with the country efforts to implement the Party and State’s policy on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television and Head of the Robocon Vietnam 2025 Organizing Committee – delivers a speech at the Robotics Connect conference, a companion event of Robocon Vietnam 2025.

“Robocon is a practical playground  where studentscan  explore, learn, and take their first steps in mastering core technologies. This helps build a strong generation of tech talents who will shape Vietnam’s future”, the Head of the Robocon Vietnam 2025 Organizing Committee emphasized.

Ms. Tran Ha Trang, General Director of Robocon Vietnam 2025 and Head of Science & Technology Programming at VTV, added: “We hope that through this contest, the robots can evolve into useful tools that assist basketball players and even support athletes in real-life sports”.

Ms. Tran Ha Trang – Head of the Department of Science and Technology, Thematic – Educational Programs Division, Vietnam Television – serves as the Chief Director of Robocon Vietnam 2025.

This year, Ninh Binh province hosted both the preliminary and final rounds. Local authorities ensured thorough preparation, encompassing security and healthcare, as well as venue infrastructure. Tourist attractions were also made ready to welcome visiting teams and spectators.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Ninh Binh Province – shares insights on the local preparations for Robocon Vietnam 2025.

Throughout the event, familiar faces from past Robocon editions, including MC Hong Phuc, Phi Linh, Tran Ngoc, Khanh Vy, as well as commentators   Bao Phong, Vinh Phu, Viet Anh, and Vu Long,  kept the audience  company on both television and online platforms.

“Through the competition, its side events, and companion programs, audiences can see what it takes to program a robot capable of playing basketball or assisting humans in sports and what we might be able to achieve with such robots in the future”, said commentator Bao Phong.

Commentator Bao Phong is a familiar face to Robocon audiences on television.

Two new faces also joined the Robocon team this year: Ngoc Thinh and Xuan Anh, also known as influencer Le Bong.

Commentator Xuan Anh is one of the new faces at Robocon Vietnam this year.

“Joining Robocon gave me a deeper appreciation for technology and the students' passion as they spend countless hours building and perfecting their robots”, shared Xuan Anh.

Having been part of Robocon since its early years, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tang Cuong, Head Judge of Robocon Vietnam 2025, said: “Advanced technologies make the matches more creative and educational. Our goal is to  inspire innovation and passion in students, especially in this new era of national growth”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tang Cuong – Head of the Jury Panel for Robocon Vietnam 2025 – has been closely involved with the Robocon competition for many years.

According to Mr. Ngo Van Loc, Head Referee of Robocon Vietnam 2025: “With robots competing head-to-head on the same court, clashes are unavoidable. That’s why our referee team must be precise and well-coordinated to ensure fairness and safety”.

From the preliminary round,  the 32 best-performing teams advanced to the final. They were divided into eight groups, competing in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group advanced to the knockout stage.

“There is no absolute victory in this year’s Robocon, which means teams must try to score as many points as possible in each match”, said commentator Vu Long. “The   robots need to perform their tasks well,  and the teams have to stay calm, passionate, and composed on the field”.

After a series of intense and dramatic knockout matches, the top 8 teams advancing to the quarterfinals have been revealed:

 SKH PHOENIX (Hung Yen University of Technology and Education)

From  this point on, teams will battle in direct elimination matches to determine the champion, who will then represent Vietnam at ABU Robocon 2025 in Mongolia.

The Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Final, and Awards Ceremony will be broadcast live at 8:00 PM tonight (June 13) on VTV2. The event will also be livestreamed on digital platforms, allowing audiences nationwide to tune in and cheer for their favorite teams.
