In recent years, the annual Vietnam Robocon Contest, organized by Vietnam Television (VTV), has solidified its status as the largest platform for engineering and technology innovation among students across the country. It is not only a place to showcase talent but also provides an ideal environment in which students can test and apply their knowledge of mechanical design, programming, electronics, and automation, while also developing essential soft skills.
Initiated byThe the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) initiated Robocon in 2002, 2002, and it has been held regularly every year since then. Each year, the host country announces a new theme and set of competition rules. In 2025, Mongolia will host ABU Robocon with the theme “Basketball Warrior”, which promises new challenges requiring creativity and strong practical skills from participating teams.
Inspired by the sport of basketball, ABU Robocon 2025 aims to promote a spirit of teamwork. Under the slogan “Together for Glory”, robots will compete in team-based basketball matches.
In Vietnam, Robocon 2025 will be held nationwide once again. The preliminary round is scheduled for June 5-6, 2025, and will feature over 60 teams . The 32 best teams will advance to the national final round, taking place from June 8 to 13, 2025, in Ninh Binh Province. The champion of Robocon Vietnam 2025 will represent the country at ABU Robocon in Mongolia.
Speaking at the press conference, journalist Nguyen Thu Ha, Head of the Department of Educational Programs, Vietnam Television, and representative of the Robocon Vietnam 2025 Organizing Committee, emphasized: “The Vietnam Robocon Contest has never lost its ‘heat’ because young people’s passion for technology in Vietnam continues to ‘burn’ brightly. That is why Robocon remains one of the longest-standing competitions while still maintaining the same enthusiasm as in the early days, if not more. This year, robots will take on the role of ‘basketball warriors’, and we will witness more than 60 teams competing in a space that combines both technology and sports”.

According to Nguyen Thu Ha, Robocon is not only a creative technical competition but also a training ground that develops students' thinking, skills, and career confidence . This year’s contest challenges teams to fully utilize their knowledge and teamwork to win. It is expected to be a special season, taking place in Ninh Binh during its most beautiful time of year. The winning team will earn the right to represent Vietnam in the international competition in Mongolia.
At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh Province and representative of the local organizing committee – shared: “Ninh Binh is a land rich in cultural and historical traditions and has hosted many significant events, including an international Robocon. We are proud to accompany Robocon Vietnam once again in 2025. The province has prepared the best facilities and infrastructure to welcome teams, guests, and audiences. Ninh Binh will continue to be an ideal destination that contributes to the success of the contest and leaves a lasting impression on both domestic and international guests”.

Key Highlights of Robocon Vietnam 2025
This year, in addition to the main competition, a series of side events under the title “Robotics Connect – Creativity & Career Opportunities” will be held, including exhibitions and professional seminars. This is a platform connecting students, universities, businesses, technology experts, and the robotics enthusiast community.
At the Robot Exhibition Area, organized during the final round of Robocon Vietnam 2025, teams, businesses, and universities will showcase outstanding technology products and solutions, creating opportunities for networking, learning, and real-world experience for students and visitors.
Meanwhile, the Robotics Connect Seminar will bring together experts, managers, business representatives, and students to discuss technology trends, career paths, and the development of high-quality human resources in robotics, AI, and automation.

It is not only a space that connects students who love science and technology, allowing them to build networks with like-minded individuals.
