VTV.vn - The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a forum on July 8, highlighting business and press cooperation in a changing environment and launching a press contest on entrepreneurs and businesses in 2021.

At the forum, representatives of the business community highly appreciated the Government's solutions to maintain production and business and promote growth. They also emphasised that it is the right time to create an institutional breakthrough and improve the business environment.

VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc acknowledged that the Party and Government have provided very drastic and timely guidelines in COVID-19 prevention and control, including on maintaining production and business and recovering the economy. Timely support packages for social security and businesses have been initially effective.

The persistence of the dual goal with the growth target of 6 to 6.5% and inflation below 5% has demonstrated the Government's high determination towards stabilising the macro-economy, maintaining growth, creating jobs, and ensuring the livelihood of people, he noted, adding that the confidence of people and businesses is continuing to grow.

Representatives of the business community expressed their agreement with the new and flexible views of the Government in the context of anti-epidemic in urgent conditions, using special mechanisms to deal with COVID-19 and address socio-economic issues.

General Secretary of Hanoi Small and Medium Enterprises Association Mac Quoc Anh said businesses have paid special attention to the Government’s implementation of Resolution 68, issued on July 1, with a number of policies to support employees and employers facing difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also underscored the need to promote online dialogue with the participation of the press to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for enterprises; and at the same time made a number of recommendations on tax reduction and extension, debt freeze, inspection reduction, etc.

Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education Pham Xuan Thuy suggested that the press agencies continue to promote information dissemination on issues related to socio-economic development and business activities.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Ho Quang Loi said that the press must provide more complete information and promote critical information, especially in the process of implementing policies. Good examples and practices need to be praised while mistakes and shortcomings need to be reflected by the press so that corrections can be made, he added.
