Rice exports to Africa achieve a 50% increase
VTV.vn - According to the General Department of Customs, rice exports to Africa in the first 7 months reached over 500,000 tonnes, a 52 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

The increase is attributed to the lower price of Vietnamese rice compared to India and Thailand. In addition to white rice, exports of fragrant and high quality rice have also seen an increase. Currently the primary suppliers of rice to Africa are Thailand, India, Pakistan, Vietnam and the US.

At the beginning of 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has set its sights on the African, West Asian and South Asian markets, citing them as high demand markets where it can be price competitive with the other major players in the industry.
