This is the third consecutive year that Vietnam's rice exports have experienced such growth. Favourable markets and improved rice quality are believed to be two key factors. From the end of 2017 until now, Vietnam rice export prices have been still higher than Thailand, Pakistan and India, ranging from 50 to 100 US dollars per tonne.
According to the Vietnam Food Association, there is a huge opportunity to expand the market and increase rice exports, as the recent signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Transpacific Partnership will create favourable conditions for Vietnam to export rice to member countries.
