Since 2013, about 40 traditional patterns have bounced back, thanks to the support of the Women's Union of Lao Cai Province and Vietnamese not-for-profit Craft Link. Their embroidery handicrafts have not only been sold to domestic tourists, but also exported to several countries in Europe and America.
Reviving traditional crafts not only helps revive Xa Pho’s culture, but also improves their livelihoods. Each woman in the embroidery team can earn 2-3 million Vietnamese dong on a monthly basis. This raises their living standards and gradually reduces poverty.
