Commercial flights suggested are those connecting Vietnam with the destinations of Guangzhou (China), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Tokyo (Japan), Taiwan (China), Vientiane (Laos), and Phnom Penh (Cambodia) with one flight per week per destination.
It is estimated that approximately 2,500 – 3,000 passengers will enter Vietnam from these flights per week.
Domestic airlines will operate one flight per week to the aforementioned destinations and will increase flight frequency after the COVID-19 pandemic is fully under control.
Foreign passengers to Vietnam will need a valid visa and will be quarantined according to the regulations on COVID-19 prevention.
Vietnam halted international flights from April 1 onward due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several foreign airlines have been allowed to run international flights to Vietnam including flights carrying goods to Vietnam and carrying passengers out of Vietnam.
Meanwhile, flights carrying passengers to Vietnam have been arranged under the supervision of the Foreign Ministry. They have repatriated Vietnamese passengers including the elderly, children, pregnant women, labourers with expired labour contracts as well as facilitating foreign experts coming to Vietnam to work.
