The remote scanner, which costs more than 64,500 USD, can screen visitors within a radius of five metres. It will display a red alert upon detecting someone whose temperature exceeds 38 degrees C.
The health authority will isolate those showing fever symptoms and check their temperature again before transferring them to Phu Quoc Medical Centre if necessary.
Temperature scanners are essential as Phu Quoc Airport welcomes nearly 8,000 visitors each day, 1,500 among which are international passengers.
