‘Red Rain’ to be broadcast on VTV3 and VTV8

After its  successful theatrical run,   Red Rain will officially air on VTV3 (at 9:00 PM) and VTV8 (at 7:00 PM) on December 21, marking the 81st anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025). The TV screening of Red Rain   not only expands public access to the film but also helps further spread its profound humanistic and historical values.

  Red Rain was  previously released in cinemas on August 22, 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), and recreating the 81 days and nights of heroic combat at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. The film quickly “took the box office by storm”, becoming a phenomenon with revenue exceeding VND 700 billion, affirming the enduring appeal of war and historical themes when told through an emotionally rich and modern cinematic language.

A notable strength of Red Rain lies in its restrained yet highly cinematic storytelling, placing people at the center of the narrative. Soldiers are portrayed through deeply human perspectives, such as comradeship, love for  their  homeland and family, and inner conflicts amid the brutality of war. This approach has enabled the film to resonate with multiple generations of viewers, especially young audiences who have never experienced war firsthand, yet who can still grasp the value of the peace they enjoy today.

During its theatrical release, Red Rain received widespread recognition for its efforts to authentically recreate battlefield atmospheres and historical settings, as well as for the serious  dedication to  the cast’s performances. The film adds a meaningful chapter to Vietnam’s revolutionary war cinema, a genre entrusted with preserving collective memory and passing historical lessons on to the present day.

The broadcast of “Red Rain” on VTV3 and VTV8, , coinciding with the anniversary of  the Vietnam People’s Army, further highlights the film’s significance. It offers audiences an opportunity to reflect on the   sacrifices  made by previous generations, and reminds us of our  responsibility to safeguard peace and cherish the independence and freedom  that our nation enjoys today.

Last November, Red Rain (produced by the People’s Army  Movie Studio) emerged as a standout work, winning the Golden Lotus Award for Best Feature Film. In addition, the film claimed four other awards: Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, and Best Supporting Actor. The excellence of Red Rain lies not only in its large-scale production but also in its emotionally layered portrayal of war, achieved through modern technical and artistic craftsmanship.
