Record remittances in 2017

VTV.vn - Over 13.8 billion US dollars of remittances were recorded in 2017, according to a World Bank report, a 16% rise compared to 2016 and a record high for Vietnam so far.

Remittances mainly came from the US, which accounted for 60% of the total. The EU came in at second with 20%, followed by China, South Korea, Japan and other markets. Hồ Chí Minh City was the leading remittances attracting locality with about 5.2 billion US dollars. Remittances flow grows as Tet nears. Experts attributed the record remittances to economic growth and improved business environment, which have encouraged foreign investors, overseas Vietnamese businessmen and startups.
