Racial factor excluded in death of Vietnamese in Czech

VTV.vn - The Vietnamese Association in Karlovy Vary, the Czech Republic, on April 21 excluded the racial factor in the April death of a Vietnamese in the country.

Earlier, the Consular Section of the Vietnamese Embassy in Prague reported that it was informed on April 19 by the Czech police of the death of a Vietnamese national named Lai Hong Nam, born on December 23, 1967, who lived in Potucky village of Karlovy Vary. The police did not disclose the cause of his death.

The association said that Lai Hong Nam, from the northern province of Nam Dinh, arrived in the Czech Republic in 1997 and worked as a cloth trader at the Potucky market on the border with Germany. He died in a family fight when only he and his wife were at home. Nam’s wife is being detained by the police for investigation.

However, the information is yet to be confirmed or dismissed by the police.

Also according to the association, the local police has worked with the deceased’s close relatives and the association on the handover of Nam’s body on April 23. A memorial service will be held for him on April 27.
