It is the seventh edition of the Cherry Blossom Festival, which is jointly held by the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee and Japan’s International Culture Association, and it is the third time that the Yen Tu yellow apricot blossoms are on display at the event.
The cultural event aims to boost cultural, trade and tourism links between Quang Ninh province and Japanese businesses and people through the iconic images of Japan’s cherry blossoms and Yen Tu’s yellow ochna trees, thus contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
The opening ceremony featured arts performances by artists from the two countries and a fashion show of traditional Vietnamese and Japanese costumes.
The nine-day festival features various Vietnamese and Japanese cultural activities and folk games, booths displaying signature products and specialties of Quang Ninh and Japan, and a trade conference for businesses from the two countries.
Replicas of Yen Tu mount in Uong Bi city, Hon Trong Mai (Fighting Cock Rocks) on Ha Long Bay, and Mount Fuji of Japan were set up as a highlight of this year’s festival.
As many as 100 cherry blossom trees and 5,000 cherry blossom branches from Japan, as well as 200 Yen Tu yellow ochna flower trees, are on display for visitors on the occasion.
