A breakdown of sectors showed industry and construction grew by 12.5%, services by 7.7% and agriculture by 3.1%.
During the first three quarters of the year, the city — home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay — welcomed 6.73 million tourists, accounting for more than half of all arrivals in Quang Ninh Province.
The figure is up 18% compared to the same period last year and equivalent to 79.1% of the full-year target for 2023.
Revenue from tourism was estimated at nearly 14.88 trillion VND (610.5 million USD), a surge of 31% against last year.
As of September 15, the city’s budget collection was estimated at 10.78 trillion (442.5 million USD), an increase of 5.2% from a year ago, while spending rose by 3.5% to 11.4 trillion (468 million USD).
Ha Long continued to witness improvement in its administrative reform and business environment, and currently ranks second among the districts, towns, cities and departments of Quang Ninh Province, up six positions from 2021.
