VTV.vn - In recent years, the central province of Quảng Nam has become one of the top tourist destinations in Vietnam.

Considering tourism a key solution to poverty eradication and economic development, Quang Nam province has focused on developing local infrastructure oriented to the southwest.

The tourism village of Bhòong was previously a remote area. Located 100 kilometres away from Da Nang City, the village still maintains its original architecture and the traditions of the Co Tu people. In the last few years, this has helped enrich Quang Nam’s tourist attractions, in addition to its long beaches and 2 world heritage sites, My Son and Hoi An.

Nguyen Hai, Vice Director, Quang Nam Tourism Promotion Center said: The cultural heritage of the ethnic groups here is very prominent. It is shown in the communal activities and daily work-life of the people. The traditional dances and music attract a lot of tourists, too.

Infrastructure plays a key role in tourism development. The newly inaugurated Cửa Đại Bridge connects the southwestern and the southeastern areas of Quang Nam Province. As connectivity grows, it is expected to improve tourism destinations along the long coastal line of the southwest, and to help lower poverty in the area.

Alyx Hewins, Canadian tourist said: We’ll be spending the full month here and [we have] no regrets. The food, the people, the sights… we love it here!

Dennis Bakker, Dutch tourist said: I’ve been travelling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City with a motorbike. We just passed Hoi An and we didn’t know anything about it and some people told us that it’s a really beautiful town. And so we just had to go there!

Dinh Van Thu, Chairman, Quang Nam provincial People's Committee said: The southwestern part of Quang Nam is seen as a potential tourist destination. Developing tourism in the southwestern region is the main target of Quang Nam Province. It will alleviate poverty in the area by providing tourism services.

In the first 8 months of 2015, Quảng Nam received 3 million visitors, with total revenue of about 180 million USD. The province aims to become an even bigger tourism hub in central Vietnam in the near future.
