Located at more than 2,000 metres above sea level altitude, the Fujian cypress forest in Tay Giang is untouched. This old forest is a rarity in South East Asia. Tourists can’t help but be in awe of its greatness when setting foot in the forest.
Quang Nam Province is known for its tourist hot-spots of the old town of Hoi An and the Cham religious site of My Son. But the province also has an advantage in ecotourism and adventure tourism development. The Ho Chi Minh Trail passed through its mountainous districts, and the area has many historical monuments and preserved ethnic cultural traditions. So developing tourism services based on the old Fujian cypress forest could diversify tourism products in Quang Nam.
The potential to develop ecotourism and adventure tourism in Quang Nam Province is huge. But the forest requires stricter protection, infrastructure development and investment to help improve the living standards of local Co Tu people and preserve the forest for the generations to come.
