According to the message, there's been a severe shortage of rainfall in the Southern Central and Central Highlands regions. It is predicted that the drought might even last until August this year.
To deal with the situation, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested related Ministries and agencies and local People's Committees to continue dealing with drought and saline intrusion to make sure that people's lives aren't affected.
He assigned the local People's Committees to be in charge of dredging canals and drainage system, speeding up the completion of irrigation works, creating reservoirs to store water, and bringing clean water from the urban areas to the suburban and ensuring water supplies for people, schools, hospitals, and medical facilities.
