Promoting foreign affairs between Vietnam - US

VTV.vn - On the first and 2nd of February, theVietnamese Embassy in the US had a working trip in Maryland, the state with a developed economy and income per capita that ranks 3rd in the US.

The trip not only promoted cooperation with the state but also helped strengthen bilateral relations between the US and Vietnam in the context of the new US government.

About 200 members of the International Club in Maryland attended the talk of the Vietnam Ambassador to US, Pham Quang Vinh. Many of the attendees were the elderly who've lived and worked in many different industries, but share a common interest for international issues. For them, Vietnam's perspective on bilateral relations and the role of America in the period of the new government are topics of interest.

The talk was one of the activities on the Vietnam Embassy's working trip that aimed to to expand and further strengthen cooperations with the state of Maryland. In a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor, Boyd Rutherford, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation through specific projects, especially in areas that Maryland has strengths in, such as education and training, science and technology, and the defense industry.

In the context of a US leadership transfer which comes with foreign policy adjustments, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US wished to convey effectively the message of bilateral relations.

Also during this trip, Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh met with the director of the United States' Naval Academy, one of the leading naval training bases in the country. At the meeting, the director expressed his readiness for training cooperations with Vietnam
