VTV.vn - The 15th “Mua xuan cho em” (Spring for Children) 2022 programme, raising over VND100 billion to support disadvantaged children and children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, took place in Hanoi, on January 9.

The programme, hosted by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), was attended by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien, and members of the Party Central Committee: Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who is Chairwoman of the NFVC Sponsorship Council; the MOLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung; Chairwoman of the NA Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh, and former Vice President Truong My Hoa, together with leaders of ministries, departments, branches and central organisations.

Since its inception, the programme has mobilised more than 1.2 trillion VND and provided help for nearly 1 million children.

The event is held annually on the eve of Tet (Lunar New Year) festival in order to bring a warm and happy Tet to children in need.

Addressing the event, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated kind-hearted organisations, collectives and individuals for their donations to the Fund over recent years, helping to care for children across the country, particularly those living in difficult situations.

She called for joint effort and more practical activities to the care, protection and education of Vietnamese children, who are the future masters of the country.

The programme was also a bridge connecting children in difficult circumstances with benefactors, businesses and calling for the community's cooperation for orphans in general and orphans affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in particular, to bring a warm spring to them.

On this occasion, the MOLISA presented certificates of merit to organisations and individuals for their significant contributions to the protection and care of children in 2021.
