The contest, the second of its kind, aimed to promote the implementation of Decision No. 2074/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, issued on December 10, 2021, referring to the Plan to implement Directive No. 06-CT/TW of the Secretariat, on strengthening the Party's leadership in family building work in the new situation and Decision No. 2238/QD-TTg, issued on December 30, 2021, on approving the Vietnam Family Development Strategy until 2030.
Officially launched on March 27, 2024, after two months, nearly 1,000 works with diverse genres from essays, diaries, and notes were received. Authors from at home and abroad participated with intimate but sacred stories about the special father-daughter relationship.
Speaking at the ceremony, Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, spoke highly of the initiative to organise the contest, noting this is a direction and method that both adheres to the principles and goals while spreading kindness and good things to the community.
The first-place prize went to the work entitled "My Father and Memories that Live Forever" by Associate Professor, Dr Luu Khanh Tho (Hanoi). Second-place prizes were presented to three works: "My Father, the Most Important Person on My Artistic Path" by People’s Artist Hoang Cuc, "World of Books, Father and Daughter" by Nguyen Hoai Anh (Singapore) and "Memory" by Do Thi Van (Thai Binh).
In addition, the organising committee also awarded three third-place prizes, six consolation prizes and six additional prizes.
Also at the ceremony, Vietnamese Family Magazine launched the book "Fathers and Daughters" which collects excellent entries. The book consists of 390 pages, divided into three parts. The book’s beautiful presentation with emotional and good-natured content is a handbook for every Vietnamese family to nurture humane and warm family sentiments.
