Speaking at the event, PM Pham Minh Chinh stressed that the border guards play a crucial role in managing and protecting national borders, which is especially important to safeguard territorial integrity and national sovereignty, maintain political stability, national defence and security, as well as national socio-economic development.
He called on soldiers and officers at Huoi Luong border post and border guards, in general, to thoroughly grasp the country's foreign policy to maintain a peaceful environment, border stability, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while preventing and combating crimes, especially cross-border crimes such as human and drug trafficking.
He requested the border guard to firmly grasp the situation in the border areas and stay ready and active to handle any arising problems.
He added that it is also necessary to promote the tradition of “Uncle Ho's soldiers” and closely coordinate with neighbouring countries to build shared border areas of peace, cooperation and friendship.
The same day, PM Pham Minh Chinh offered incense and flowers at the memorial site of heroes and fallen soldiers in Ma Ly Pho Commune, Phong Tho District.
