Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received the Honorary General Consul for South Korean city of Busan-Keangnam, Park Soo Kwan on Tuesday in Hanoi. Busan is the 2nd largest city in South Korea and the Busan-Keangnam region is considered the country’s industrial and trade hub.
Speaking at the meeting, the prime minister said he highly valued the role of the Honorary General Consul in boosting ties between Busan and Vietnamese localities. The consul, he noted, has also been active in supporting Vietnamese citizens residing in the Busan metropolitan area.
The state leader said the State Bank of Vietnam would soon issue a permit for Busan Bank to open a branch in Vietnam. Consul Kwan, for his part, said co-operation between Busan and Vietnam in the fields of health and aquaculture had yielded positive results. Apart from plans to open a Vietnamese branch, Busan Bank, Kwan was working with other Korean enterprises to push investment into Vietnam.
