The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has rolled out various measures to improve the quality of planning in tandem with target groups, namely raising feasibility for projects and quality of projects that need amendments, heard the event, which was held in both in-person and virtual forms.
However, challenges remain in the system of legal documents on urban planning, and construction planning, while progress of planning and adjustments has yet to be on par with development requirements.
President Phuc underlined that planning serves as orientation for the development of Ho Chi Minh City’s sectors and strengthens links and synchronism among factors for development.
It is also an important tool of state management that ensures unity and harmornity so as to create new resources and driving forces for growth, he added.
The President emphasised that to become a smart city with an innovative economy which upholds humanitarian values and cultural identity of Vietnam’s southern region, Ho Chi Minh City needs to stay consistent with its targets, orientations and advantages to complete planning and adjustments serving mid- and long-term development requirements.
He urged the city to devise strategies and orientations for each field, sector and target in a clear, coherent and consistent manner, ensuring sustainable development.
The NA deputies of Ho Chi Minh City were required to submit suggestions and recommendations to authorities so as to fine-tune the legal system related to planning work.
