VTV.vn - US President Barack Obama left Washington D.C on Saturday (May 21st), starting his week-long official visit to Vietnam.

According to his schedule, which has been released by the White House, the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) will be the main focus of his visit.

These are the images of President Obama leaving for Vietnam. Images like these will be widely circulated by US media in the next few days, and the exposure is expected to help clear US investors' doubts about investing in the Asian market.

Karan Bahtia, Vice President of General Electric company, led U.S. negotiations with Vietnam on the U.S.-Vietnam Bilateral WTO Accession Agreement. He believes President Obama’s visit will further encourage big companies in the US to expand operations in Vietnam.

In reality, the White House is having trouble convincing Congress to ratify the TPP quickly. However, White House officials assured VTV reporters that the TPP will be one of the main talking points of President Obama’s visit.

President Obama’s administration has sent an important message: economic cooperation will be a main pillar of bilateral relations with Vietnam. To date, total trade turnover between the 2 countries has reached $45 billion USD, 40 times more than 20 years ago./.
