VTV.vn - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has told Ho Chi Minh City residents that he shares in their loss of health and lives due to the coronavirus in a letter sent to the city’s voters on September 16.

He also extended his sympathies to municipal residents over the hardships, difficulties and inconveniences facing them, including economic losses due to prolonged social distancing measures.

However, the State leader expressed his confidence that the pandemic will soon be brought under control and life will return to the new normal.

Underlining that the government’s largest asset is the people’s trust, President Phuc called on the government to establish more channels to listen to the people and promptly meet their needs such that no-one is left behind.

He asked the Ho Chi Minh City authorities to take care of children orphaned by COVID-19 and provide worthwhile benefits to doctors, nurses and other frontline workers in recognition of their significant contributions.

Affirming that Ho Chi Minh City’s success in fighting the pandemic will lay the foundation for the whole country’s success, President Phuc called for greater solidarity and belief in a brighter future in which the pandemic is curbed and life returns to safety.
