President Quang expressed his gratitude to Belarusian veterans who were sent to Vietnam from the former Soviet Union to help the country fight for independence and freedom.
The president said the association has helped to increase solidarity and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Belarusian people.
He emphasized that the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Association should enhance the exchange of visits, share experience and educate younger generations of the two countries to continue the bilateral friendship.
President Quang expressed his delight at the development of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus over the years, particularly in politics, economy, national defense and security, science-technology, culture, education and training, and tourism.
Notably, the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) created a strong momentum in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, he noted.
Representatives of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and Belarusian war veterans congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in national construction and development.
Both sides committed to making further efforts in strengthening friendship between the people of the two countries, contributing to promoting the traditional ties and cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam.
Later the same day, President Quang and his entourage met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community as well as students in Belarus.
He reiterated the Party and State’s consistent policy of viewing the overseas Vietnamese community, including those in Belarus, as an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation and an important contributor to national development.
President Quang hoped the embassy would continue disseminating the Party and State’s external policies and propose measures to further multi-faceted cooperation with Belarus.
Vietnam’s priority in the coming time is to coordinate with Belarus to boost the effective implementation of the Vietnam-EAEU free trade agreement to increase the bilateral economic and trade partnership, he stressed.
